Taxicab Vehicle Inspections

Taxicab inspections are performed to protect the health, safety and welfare of passengers and drivers. Prior to being placed in service, all Orange County taxicabs must be inspected and permitted by OCTAP. In addition to the initial inspection and annual inspections thereafter, all taxicabs will be subject to random and cursory inspections throughout the year.

Random inspections will generally be performed once during the year. Random inspections are scheduled and performed by OCTAP staff. Failure to bring in the taxicab for inspection on the requested date and time may result in permit suspension, permit revocation, and other administrative actions.

Cursory inspections may be performed in the field at any time by OCTAP inspectors, Agency peace officers, or Agency code enforcement officials. Failure to submit to a cursory inspection may result in permit suspension, permit revocation, and other administrative actions.

All vehicle inspections and re-inspections (if required) must be scheduled in advance by calling the OCTAP headquarters at 949-654-8294. Inspection and re-inspection fees are non-refundable and must be paid prior to the inspection being performed.
